Can you believe September is almost behind us already?
It's been an exciting month of fashion and beauty discoveries, and I can't wait to share them all with you. PURCHASES:// was a series on mycyberspace when it was on my blog, so I figured I’d share it here. I’ll probably do this once a month, near the end of the month.
So, grab a glass of wine (may I recommend a Pinot Noir?), put ona playlist, and let's dive into my September shopping spree!
Lazy Luxury 092023 Fashion Finds
Gap Goodies:
Modern Mockneck Tank - This is a major sSs closet staple. I am obsessed with these tanks. I buy them in every color I like as they come out. They look great on their own with sweats or jeans, but I especially love them for layering. Texas weather is hot, but AC blasts everywhere when you go inside. I love how these look with cardigans, pullovers, or blazers (especially anything double-breasted). For Fall, I picked up Deep Garnet Red and Heather Grey. I also have it in Black, White, and Green. I go up one size my usual in these. Shop now.
Modern Boatneck T-Shirt - I love a boatneck neckline. They are elegant and feminine and can easily dress up the most casual of looks. This top is a go-to simple Fall outfit with jeans, heels, and a belt. It’s also pretty with a mini-slip skirt. Lazy Luxury at its best! In this top, go with your regular size. I have it in white, black, and grey, and I bought the Navy for Fall. Shop now.
24/7 Split-Hem Crewneck Sweater - These sweaters are my obsession. They are so cozy and, despite being oversized, quite flattering. When I like something, I collect it in colors. One thing you’ll learn about me pretty fast: I usually buy the same style in different sizes or colors if I love something. Gap releases this style in new colors each season. I picked up the Black/Green stripe and the light blue for Fall. Regarding sizing, I have them in various sizes, depending on how I want each color to fit. I went with my usu size for the green/black and sized up in the light blue. Shop now.
Modern Rib Cardigan - As soon as I saw the color Cornucopia Red, I had to have it. This shirt reminds me a lot of the Gellar top by Reformation, but less cropped and revealing. I love the ribbed fabric, and this color is absolutely stunning. It’s the perfect blend of red & orange. Shop now.
Vintage Soft Cargo Sweatpants - I love these sweatpants more than I expected. They fit perfectly oversized, even in my true size… which is my favorite way to buy my true size. It’s why I constantly size up. I got these in black and was pleasantly surprised to see the hem at the leg has a cinch, so you can convert them into joggers! Personally, I’m a big flare/wide-leg/straight-leg sweats girlie over joggers, and I love black sweatpants in general. I’m also eyeing them in grey. Shop now.

J. Crew Gems:
Zoe strappy flats - I’ve long been a fan of ballet-core, so I’m ecstatic to see it trending so hard. I picked up the Dune pink, which looks just like ballet slippers. I plan on wearing this like Hailey Bieber here (but with pants!), I love how the black turtlenecks, socks, and pink ribbons look with these darling shoes. I’ll also wear these with the boatnecks above. I also will wear these with black mini slip skirts. I was also going to get them in black, but they sold out while in my cart. :-( I have them on alert if they come back in my size. If they do, I’m swooping them up stat. Shop now.
New heritage Rollneck™ sweater - I love the J. Crew Rollneck Sweaters. They are such a timeless look, and as soon as I saw the royal purple, I had to have it. I sized up two sizes since I read that it runs quite small, and I like my knits to be cozy. I just ordered this, so it hasn’t come in yet. Once it arrives, I’ll do an update with sizing! (updated from the future. This runs TINY. I could have easily gone up three sizes, and I lowkey wish I did. I don’t love talking about my size, but I am a standard small but for this piece, I think it is helpful. The large fits like a medium at best - it looks good, but for the cozy vibes I like, I need to go up one more size at least, maybe even two more sizes - also, the purple color is STUNNING) Shop now.
Pleated A-line chino dress - I love anything resembling a school uniform. If B for Waldorf Designs existed irl, I’d be their best customer. From the classic khaki chino to the pleated skirt, it’s perfect. This will also look great over a turtleneck or under a cozy knit. To make it even better, it’s on sale, and there’s usually a discount code to slash the price further. Shop now.
Astrid wide-leg chino pants - These pants are perfect. I picked them up in Olive Sand at the end of summer and immediately went back for the Navy this month. They are wide-leg with an elastic waist. I love that they look a little “borrowed from the boys,” and they are super comfortable. The reviews say they run large, but that’s false. I bought my true size, and SO GLAD I did not size down like the reviews say. Shop now.
Rugby Shirt in Colorblock - I love to shop the men’s section at J.Crew. I also love rugby shirts. I also love green. And I also love blue. This shirt is everything I love, and it’s on final sale. In the men’s section, my personal favorite size ever is Men’s Medium. The same goes for vintage. Shop now.
Ralph Lauren Elegance
Oversize Boxy Fit Denim Trench Coat - I have been eyeing this jacket since May. It is now almost 50% off, so I finally went for it. It is absolutely stunning and fits perfectly oversized. Your true size is best for this one! No need to size up. I love this jacket because it is all-season and looks just as great in the Fall/Winter as it does in the Spring/Summer. I also think it looks chic with leggings! Shop now.
Lululemon Lovelies
Define Jacket in Atomic Purple (on sale!) - Though this substack is only a few days old, I feel like I keep talking about my love for the color purple! I can’t get enough of it. This Fall, I’ve been collecting so much purple. I love how the Defines fit, and thumbholes are one of my favorite features in clothing. I like to go one size up from my standard Lulu size in Defines. Shop now.
Groove Pants in Dark Forest - Groove pants are my favorite Lululemon pants, and I collect them in the colors I like. I love the dark green, but I especially love it with the purple jacket above. It’s giving Joker, which will probably be my October aesthetic (fav character of all time). I really love wearing dark green and purple together. These also look great with anything black. In these, I go with my usual Lulu size. Shop now.
Define Relaxed-Fit Jacket in Black - I bought this in-store and can truly say the photos don’t do this beauty justice. This was an instant buy as soon as I tried it on. This jacket is seriously perfect. It is super customizable, thanks to the cinching. You can wear it relaxed, which covers the bum, or cinched at the waist, where it drapes perfectly. This has major 80s vibes, and I love the gold zipper and the thumbholes. In this one, go with your regular Lulu size! You can size down, but I find it’s a little tight on the shoulders, especially if you lift your arms. My usu Lulu size was perfect. Shop now.
Scuba Funnel Neck in Dramatic Magenta - Technically, I bought this in August, but I wanted to include it anyway. Plus, it didn’t arrive until September anyway. :-) This might be my favorite purchase all season. The color is absolutely gorgeous, and it looks as good with jeans as it does with groove pants. I prefer the Funnel necks over the hoodies in the Scuba Half zips. I find the hood too heavy. In the Scubas, I also go with any size, depending on the color and how I want it to fit. If I want them more cropped, I go with the XS/S; if I want them super oversized and cozy, I go with the L/XL. In this one, I got M/L, and it fits perfectly oversized and exactly how I want it to. Shop now.
Scuba Mid-Rise Wide-Leg Pants - These were another August in-store purchase, but they were too good not to share. I tried on both my size and one size up and was torn! The true size is more fitted and flattering, but one size up looks more luxurious and easy to dress up. I love a juxtaposition with casual baggy sweats and high heels. I bought both the black and the dark forest in one size up, and I love how it looks. In fact, even my husband complimented these and thought they looked great. You can't go wrong with either size, depending on how you want them to look. Good to know: you can roll down the waistband to make them low-rise, and I personally like how this looks better in the larger size. Shop now.

Beauty Haul
Rhode:
Peptide Lip Treatment in Strawberry Glaze - I decided to try Rhode, the skin+beauty line by Hailey Bieber. I loved that Strawberry was a collab with Krispy Kreme donuts! It tastes and smells just like one of my favorite candies in the world: the Strawberry & Cream Chupa Chup lollipop. I loved this so much that I bought a second one today when the lip tints came out! I hope they make this a permanent scent. I’m glad to see Strawberry having a moment; it’s by far my favorite scent when it comes to lip balms! Shop now.
The Peptide Lip Tints - These came out right as I am typing this! I saw it all over TikTok this month and loved all the colors. I bought the 4-pack, which comes with Ribbon (milky ballet pink), Raspberry Jelly (sheer wine), Toast (nude brown), and Espresso (rich brown). I love tinted balms. I know these are unscented, but I must admit, I wish they were flavored! I ordered them today, so I haven’t tried them yet, but I will report back with photos here on the sSsstack when I get them! Shop now.
Summer Fridays & Sephora Must-Haves:
Summer Fridays Sweet Mint Lip Butter - I’m a sucker for anything mint. Mint the color, mint ice cream, mint fragrance… as soon as this was announced, I had to pick it up. It reminds me of Thin Mints! Shop now.
Summer Fridays Cushion Cream Ultra Plumping Moisturizer - I needed a new night cream, so I decided to try the newly released SF Cushion Cream. It’s very thick and nourishing. I’m only 2 days into using it but I like it so far! I alternate between a liquid exfoliator and Rx retinoids, so this feels very nourishing as a last step. Shop now.
Sephora Makeup Picks - This fall, I’m very into “fox” makeup. Basically, if it has the name Fox in it, I want it. Here’s what I picked up and love: Merit Flush Cream Blush in Fox (a perfect nude blush that can double as a contour, pictured below), Clinique Foxier eyeshadow (I actually go this on Amazon, pictured below), and Hourglass Curator Eyeshadow Single in Fox (light champagne - note: I didn’t realize this came on its own and meant to be put in a palette, so I keep it in the plastic). I also picked up Glossier Ultralip in Pony. I think this is the same color from the original Play line, which I thought paired nicely with the Fox blush. I also got this Rose Inc. palette. I saw this video on Instagram and was totally influenced. I love how the green looks with blue eyes!

September Favorites
My Top Pick of the Month:
Scuba Funnel Neck in Dramatic Magenta
If I had to choose just one favorite, it would be the Lululemon Funnel in Dramatic Magenta. The color is so beautiful, and it is easy to dress up and down. I think I’ve worn it or at least brought it with me as an outer layer close to every day this month. I also LOVE that it has thumb holes! Thumbholes are one of my favorite features in clothing. Shop now.
