I’m thinking about making a “section” of these posts, which are basically all social media-related. Stay tuned! xx

One key aspect I often emphasize in online content creation is the ability to be “in on the joke.”

I truly believe this separates the great content creators from the rest.

“Being in on the joke” is also, surprisingly, a hard thing to do. It takes a lot of surrendering to the absurd. You have to give up all control. But there’s a lot of abundance on the other side of absurdity.

Spend any time on TikTok; as ridiculous and “serious” it can be, it is seriously THE most “unserious” social media app. So much so, it actually is the one thing that made serious ass Instagram less and less serious. How many times can I say serious? :-)

That being said, if you spent any time on TikTok in SS2024, it’s quite apparent that it’s pop girl summer. It’s no secret that this is the year of pop stars!!

Sabrina Carpenter and Charli xcx (those two will get future posts here because I have sooooo much to say about them. I also like them!! But wow, are they master classes on branding???!!!! also, it’s fun to see them gain recognition because they’ve been working for this for years), and many, many, MANY more. It’s honestly the most fun I’ve seen pop stars have in years, maybe even a decade now.

Anyway, I can't stop thinking about something that happened on TikTok in the past 12 hours, so I want to share it here.
