Can you believe it’s already the last Friday of April?
Time seems to be slipping through our fingers, and here we are, on the brink of May.
It feels like just weeks ago we were ringing in the New Year, and before we realize it, we’ll be halfway through the year!
I'm genuinely excited for the warmer weather! I always prefer heat to cold! Recently, I’ve been having a lot of fun fine-tuning my personal style for the summer, exploring everything from chic denim to breezy cotton. It’s quite the contrast since San Francisco tends to be chilly around this time!
A moment to highlight a recent fabulous purchase: this belted denim jacket that just came in! It’s absolutely perfect. I sized up, which was the right decision. It looks great both tied and open, and looking forward to pairing it with my own belts. And the denim with copper hardware? A personal weakness of mine! The code TREAT should give you an extra 10% off, as well.
Currently, I'm all about adding turquoise details to my ensemble for SS2024. Whether it’s denim jackets, stylish belts, or jewelry, I’m constantly on the hunt for these pieces on eBay and Poshmark — truly my favorite shopping spots.
I have a full-blown post coming on Abercrombie soon, but I am so impressed with their selection and even their prices! After highlighting this dress, these pants, and this bag in this week’s Top 8, I returned to snag these jeans and this skirt. Abercrombie is definitely on my list of brands to shop right now!
Currently reading:// Cal Newport’s new book Slow Productivity: The Lost Art of Accomplishment Without Burnout because I can use all the help I can get with that. :) I also just finished Crystal Harris Hefner’s book "Say Good Things," detailing her life at the Playboy Mansion. We are really close in age so it brought an extra dimension of interest to my reading.
One of my current projects is enhancing our bedding collection! The latest addition? A summer comforter and a pair of shams that are both classic and versatile, much like pairing a timeless shirt with jeans. My inspiration with this is really any “shirt with jeans,” if this makes sense. For example, jersey knit for a T-shirt, percale for a button-down, oxford for oxfords, etc! It will also complement with our core striped bedding well.
I also purchased this Herringbone quilt in Rain/Milk, the very same model we adored during our stay at Hotel Healdsburg. I was thrilled to find it online for our home!
My latest fascination?: Kibbe & color analysis! I can seriously get lost in the color analysis content for hours. While I find it challenging to determine my own type, I have a knack for identifying others' lol. I have a theory that one's type aligns with their birthday or birthday season — my husband, for instance, is unmistakably a true winter!
Kibbe is another I can get lost in for too long! For those interested, Reddit and Pinterest are fantastic for exploring both the Kibbe system as well as color analysis.
You can find threads about almost any celebrity by including 'Kibbe' (or ‘color analysis’!) with their name in your search. And with Pinterest, just look up any of the Kibbe types. I’d also love to get my hands on his Metamorphosis book from the 80s. Here’s a v comprehensive test.
To wrap up this week’s Bulletin, one of the things I'm most proud of is developing my personal style. It was a long journey, but I'm thrilled with where I am now.
Discovering the three-word method, which went viral a few years back, seriously revolutionized how I approach my wardrobe. Allison Bornstein is the creator of this, and an invaluable source for finding your personal style. Here & here are some more. Here is a podcast she was on.
I cannot recc her book enough: Wear it Well! I read it in days, and I keep it in my closet. I also have a Closet Journal which also lives there. I can make a future post on this if you want? But it has inventory (aka exactly what I have on hand), seasonal trends, trends I love, future seasons, printed looks with my Ivy… etc.
Her three-word method changed my perspective entirely. It’s a simple, straightforward strategy for refining your wardrobe to reflect your true self while letting go of the unnecessary. Embrace what genuinely makes you feel good & eliminate everything that doesn’t… at the end of it, you’ll have a closet of things you already own that make you feel the most you.
For an enjoyable weekend project, why not explore defining your personal style? Identify your three essential style descriptors (here’s a thread with a clickable list on Reddit to get started!) and tailor your wardrobe to reflect these concepts with what you already have. There's nothing more satisfying than a closet filled with pieces you adore that make you feel good, confident, and excited to get dressed every day.
Have a marvelous weekend, darlings! xx sSs
(P.S. A lipstick I’m loving is this in 'Milky Pink')
